OYAN/Reb/Yank Post

This is a big topic of small importance...

I attended the OYAN Summer Workshop 2011 last year (well, obviously last year). And loved it and everything to pieces. (I think you were still intact when I got home though... *glances at her trident*)
I spent two months in the States. 2 weeks in Kansas, 2 weeks in Oklahoma, 1 week in Oregon, 1 week in Texas and 2 more weeks in Kansas. June 15 - August 16. I am not a millionaire and family circumstances were such last year that it is a total miracle that I even got there, much less to travel that extensively. My families took care of me and loved me and God bless them very, very much. Thank you.

I fell in love with America while I was there. I'm a passionate British patriot, but I feel two totally different ways about both countries. America and Britain are not perfect - but America is a new land. A beautiful land. A new life. A fresh start. And chock full of my friends and people I love. Long and short of this being, due to my family's situation and my brother's medical (and mental) condition, it was suggested by several people that I attempt to bring my family over to the USA. Emigration - and immigration.

I've looked into it, emailing some friends of Mother G's and also an emigration solicitor. I could go over there and work for five years if there was someone that was willing to hire/sponsor me. But with my scanty qualifications, even though they're some of the highest in Britain's schools....
I'm not specialised. So no one would have me. Also, that would require leaving my family behind. The chances are very slim. I've no idea how to gain influence with anyone of importance in the US.
With Jose close to being on the list, it's even lower.

I was chatting one of my friends last night and he made a suggestion. I've no idea if this would work, but if it would, how many of you would be willing/interested in writing to your congressmen or something?
If I were free to move on my own it would be less of a problem, but I have my Mom and my twin brother to think about.
I'm willing to work and learn and do anything, really. I just want to start again and help my family start again.
I know you're praying...just wondered how many of you'd be interested or willing to do this.

    Hey Sian, those definitely sound like some big developments to think about and decisions to make... by writing our congressmen what do you mean? Are you asking for us to write to our congressmen for a special permit to let you come to the US or something? :) I would definitely be willing to help you out but I'm not sure exactly what it is you are meaning...

    I'd absolutely be willing to write to my congressmen before. I've done it before,so it'd be a cinch. I echo Wayf though: about what, exactly?

    This blog post of little importance??? Are you kidding!?! ;) hehe! <3 I talked to my Mom about you wanting to come live in the States. She said that it shouldn't be heard for you to go about emigrating. The best way to go about it would be to take the test, fill out the forms and become a citizen. Mom said it should be eaiser for you to come into the States, than for someone to move into Europe...we could always pray for work for you, and I'm sure you could have as good of a chance as another female with your qualifications. America is not so tight in the same ways Britian is...ofcourse, making a new life is in no way an easy thing, there are trials... and as with anything we want to do, we have to be willing to truly "believe" that the 'price' is worth the 'prize'. All it takes it belief and determination. People have done whatever it takes to make new lives for themselves in the States, since way, way, back...the ones who accomplished it, never did it without faith in their dream, God, and being willing to do what it takes. Ask God about it,if You feel He is leading the way, take action, and keep faithful to your goal, and nothing will be impossible for You or your family. Do not get caught up in doubt or pessimism that it can't or won't come about...Believe, Act, and take the course. Love you! <3 xoxox Lindi

    And Plus my Friend; what is it that 'prayer' cannot do??? God can do anything ;) Do not fear man, only keep focused on God, and He will guide your paths.

My Battle with Modesty

WARNING: I'm not sure about the appropriateness of this for guys...so if you think it's bad, stop reading. Okay? I read Jay Lauser’s excellent post on A New Kind of Modesty (which you really, really, really should read, though I won’t post it up seven times like my big sister C’rissie :P) yesterday, and thought I would like to blog my struggle and weakness in that area for...encouragement?
